Jean-Ferdinand JOBELOT, Notes sur la coutume du comté de Bou - Lot 159
Jean-Ferdinand JOBELOT, Notes sur la coutume du comté de Bourgogne, circa 1730 In-folio manuscript, 251 pages long, probably written by two hands, the first being that of M. Jean-Ferdinand Jobelot (1620-1702), first president of the Besançon parliament from 1676 to 1702, the second unknown, but having continued the work after M. Jobelot's death. It comprises six titles: "des fiefs", "des gens mariés", "des successions", "des prescriptions", "du signe patibulaire" and "du droit d'insine aide". It includes three estate devolution diagrams, p°199, p°201 and p°215. The customs are illustrated with case law from the county of Burgundy, the most recent dating from 1726. Bound in leather gilded with a lattice motif, page edges reddened, This work belonged to M. Louis B. (?), who received it from one of his colleagues on June 29, 1860, as stated in a handwritten dedication on the first page. Mr. B. probably completed the table of contents on the last page of the manuscript by mentioning the last two titles of the book. Another manuscript by M. Jobelot, written by two hands in the first half of the 18th century, on Burgundy custom is in the Besançon Library. (Stains, wear to cover).
