Maison François MARQUIS, Paris, Rectangular chest in havana leather on a wooden core with gilded decoration of foliage, cartouches and crosses. Interior lined with floral damask red silk. Marked "F. MARQUIS / 44 rue Vivienne/ Passage des panoramas,59/PARIS". Late 19th century 8 x 18 x 12 cm (Wear to leather, numerous wears to gilding) The Francois Marquis chocolate and confectionery factory was founded in 1818 and moved to Passage des Panoramas. In 1836, the company moved to 57-59 passage des Panoramas and 44 rue Vivienne.
